Crystal (formerly Crystal Cruises), a prestigious member of A&K Travel Group, operates two exceptional cruise ships, Crystal Symphony and Crystal Serenity. Crystal Symphony, cozy yet elegant, accommodates 606 guests with spacious suites and diverse amenities. Crystal Serenity, larger in scale, hosts 740 guests, offering a range of activities and comforts. Both ships exemplify Crystal's dedication to personal comfort and luxury, setting the stage for their journey with Nevron's solutions.






In early 2023, Crystal decided to update their guest information and entertainment system - their in-room IPTV and Digital Signage throughout the ships. They sought a fresher solution that offered maximum capability while being easier for them to manage and update content flexibly and promptly. To ensure a seamless digital guest experience in a setting like a cruise ship, they also emphasized the need for a provider capable of assuring reliable performance under a variety of conditions. Recognizing the need for these enhancements, and based on their positive past experiences and trust in the technology, the IT manager recommended Nevron for its user-friendly and advanced solutions.





Nevron actions


At Nevron we skillfully tailored a solution for Crystal, seamlessly integrating their advanced IPTV and Digital Signage solutions across Crystal Symphony and Crystal Serenity. This upgrade included the NevronWare platform, ensuring a high-quality, user-friendly, and customizable guest experience for guests. A standout feature was the live camera feeds – Bridge Camera, Port Side Camera, and Starboard Camera – allowing guests to view live streams directly in their suites. The solution, installed on the ships' servers, required intricate networking and configuration to deliver various digital services in the suites. Content such as daily updates from the Cruise Director, interviews, shore excursion presentations, enrichment lectures, and special events were recorded and uploaded to the IPTV solution, enriching the onboard entertainment experience. To ensure a smooth rollout, the Nevron team provided ongoing technical support.




Results & potential


Since implementing Nevron's solutions, Crystal has seen a solid, reliable, and competent solution that elevates the guest experience. The ease of use and user-friendliness of the IPTV solution, as noted by the client, marks a significant improvement over the previous system. The Digital Signage solution plays a crucial role in keeping guests well-informed about activities on both ships. However, the groundwork laid by the new solutions we provided paves the way for future expansions, potentially including the promotion and upsell of other onboard services.
